The LM2596 is a DC-DC buck converter IC (step-down regulator) that efficiently reduces a higher DC voltage to a lower DC voltage while providing high current output. It is widely used in power supply modules for Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, robotics, and battery charging circuits.

🔹 Working Principle
The LM2596 uses a switching regulator mechanism:
It rapidly switches a transistor ON/OFF and uses an inductor, diode, and capacitor to smooth the output.
Unlike linear regulators (which waste energy as heat), the LM2596 efficiently transfers power, giving higher efficiency.
By adjusting the feedback resistor (or onboard potentiometer in modules), the output voltage can be set to a desired level.
