The LM35 is a temperature sensor IC that provides an analog output voltage proportional to the temperature in °C. It is simple, accurate, and widely used in electronics projects for temperature measurement with Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, and other microcontrollers.
🔹 Details and Explanation
Type: Precision temperature sensor (analog)
Output: Linear analog voltage → 10 mV per °C
Temperature Range: –55 °C to +150 °C
Accuracy: ±0.5 °C (at room temperature)
Operating Voltage: 4V – 30V
Current Consumption: < 60 µA (low power)
Self-heating: Very low, < 0.1 °C in still air
🔹 Working Principle
The LM35 generates a voltage directly proportional to temperature.
For every 1 °C rise, the output increases by 10 mV.
Example:
At 0 °C → Output = 0.00 V
At 25 °C → Output = 0.25 V
At 100 °C → Output = 1.00 V
This makes it easy to interface with an ADC (Analog to Digital Converter) of a microcontroller.
🔹 Pin Configuration (3 pins)
VCC: Power supply (4–30V)
OUT: Analog output voltage (10 mV/°C)
GND: Ground
🔹 Applications
Weather stations
Digital thermometers
Air conditioning systems
Industrial temperature monitoring
Battery temperature monitoring
Robotics and IoT projects
