A push button is a type of simple momentary switch used to control the flow of electricity in a circuit. When pressed, the push button closes the circuit and allows current to pass; when released, the circuit opens again and the current stops. This makes it ideal for applications where a temporary input signal is required. Push buttons are widely used in electronic projects, control systems, calculators, doorbells, toys, and industrial machines. They come in different shapes and sizes such as tactile buttons (small, used on breadboards and PCBs), panel-mount push buttons (larger, often colored or illuminated), and reset switches. In microcontroller projects like Arduino or ESP32, push buttons are commonly connected with pull-up or pull-down resistors to ensure a stable logic signal (HIGH or LOW) is detected.
