A 9V Connector (commonly called a 9V battery clip or snap connector) is a small electrical connector designed to attach a 9V battery to power an electronic circuit. It usually consists of two terminals:
Red wire (+ve) → Positive terminal of the battery
Black wire (–ve) → Negative terminal of the battery
The connector snaps securely onto the two terminals of a standard 9V rectangular battery and provides easy wiring to supply power to devices like Arduino boards, breadboards, sensors, or small robots.
Types of 9V Connectors:
With wires – Has two leads (red and black) that can be connected to breadboards, DC jacks, or directly soldered into circuits.
With DC barrel jack – Comes with a plug (2.1mm or 2.5mm) that can be inserted directly into the Arduino UNO’s power jack.
Using with Arduino or Circuits:
If using a 9V connector with bare wires, connect the red wire to the Vin (or 5V regulator input) and the black wire to GND.
If using a DC jack type, simply plug it into the Arduino power socket. The onboard voltage regulator will step it down to 5V for safe operation.
⚠️ Note: While a 9V battery can power small Arduino projects, it is not ideal for motors or power-hungry modules, as it drains quickly. For robotic cars or larger loads, Li-ion (7.4V / 11.1V) or rechargeable battery packs are recommended.
